Ivory Cafe

You’re always welcomed at Ivory Café. It’s like coming home.

After one visit the amazing Donna will have remembered your name and most probably your order!

Ivory Café opened in April 2010. It’s the venue of choice for the catch-up lunches for This Girl and Sugarplum Fairy so it just isn’t right that we’ve overlooked sharing our love of Ivory Café until now.

This day, I went with James’ mum. A big shout out to Sugarplum Fairy! We need to catch up.

We arrived around 1:30 to find only two vacant tables. We slipped into our seats and chatted about the impressive Donna and her husband who manage to run the business without assistance (Donna later told us that they’ve recruited an assistant in the kitchen to assist with the demand). The sharp dressed man beside us joined in on the conversation. He told us how impressed he was and that he reckoned Donna was amazing, almost magnetic. She’s got some serious charisma going on.

I’m usually a Chicken Green Curry girl, but this day I surprised Donna with a request for something new and a look at the menu! I chose the Pad Thai Prawns. James’ mum went for her usual, Thai Stir Fry Chicken, Basil and Chilli. She loves that it comes with a fried egg on top.  Like most of their dishes; both are around $15 each.

As regulars, Sugarplum Fairy normally goes for the Beef Massaman Curry.  Occasionally we also choose the Vegetarian Dumplings $7 and Prawn Dumplings $7 to share.

We’ve never been disappointed with the food at Ivory Café, however, there may be times when you find no room at the inn, which has happened to us before with a large group.

You can order take-away too. It pays to give them a call and order first to save some wait time.

They’re located at 112 Elizabeth Street. Call them on 6231 6808
You can find them on Facebook here.

Here’s our post on Maharaja which is where we went when there was no room at Ivory Café.
