Exploring Brooke Street Pier feels like you’ve walked over a threshold to a holiday, local products to see and buy, attractions to discover and the unmistakable smell of Huon Pine.
Brooke Street Larder takes that holiday feel to another level. Sitting on the beautiful deck your view is absolute waterfront and it is easy to forget that the regular everyday world exists out of sight behind you!
The vibe is casual with an eclectic mix of seating options. They have outdoor gas heaters and baskets filled with red blankets for anyone who gets a little chilly. The world just kind of pauses for a moment and that relaxed feel takes over.
The service is lovely at Brooke Street Larder, staff are really friendly and you feel like they love their job, who wouldn’t love to work with a view like that every day!
This Girl has visited on three occasions so far with The Only Child, James’ Mum and Milly, so we’ve had a chance to try a few of the items off their all day menu.
For breakfast Milly and I both chose the Royale: poached eggs on sourdough; Huon smoked salmon and caviar $16. This had been talked up by staff on an earlier visit and it did not disappoint; a simple but tasty offering.
The Squid at $19 is a great lunchtime option; super tender squid with wild rocket; spicy chipotle and black puffed rice. Something a little heartier is the BSL Burger: lightly crumbed Macquaire Harbour salmon fillet; tartare sauce and spiced fries $18. If you’re looking for something to share, try the Veggie Nachos that come with sliced avocado instead of a guacamole $14.
Our breakfasts were served to us pretty quickly, however lunches took a little longer than expected.
Inside, their larder is full of local products to take home and enjoy or purchase as gifts – perfect for those interstate visitors!
Brooke Street Larder is on the ground floor of Brooke Street Pier and is open Wednesday to Monday from 8am to 5pm
Given the season and the nice weather finally approaching, it might be a good idea to call ahead and make a booking with these guys – we can see it becoming a popular spot!
