Every Sunday until 16 April the Mona lawns transform into MoMa, Mona Markets.
The Two Girls are fans and made it in the second week of the season.
MoMa is small, welcoming and on trend. Tents scattered in and around the lawn filled with locally made goods, clothing, jewellery, bags and much more, oh and of course the food.
This year each week will have a different colour theme, when we visited it was pink.
We started by grabbing a refreshing juice from the nut milk and juice bar. Then it was cocktail time! This year the cocktails are pre-mixed and bottled; ready for our lovely server to pour over ice and top with a slice of dried orange. Our cocktail, pink of course, of Hendricks gin, housemade lemoncello, raspberry and rhubarb soda was delicious and a little potent!
For lunch we shared the Duo Taquito, from Porky Duck. Tortillas rolled and fried to crispy perfection, one filled with house smoked Blue Eye, the other char grilled corn – seriously delicious!
Our first encounter with Chennai Bismi Kitchen was next where we had their beautifully crispy encased pea and potato Samosa and fluffy Masala Dosa.
Black Mountain Icecream was calling us for dessert. This Girl had the brownie with apricot and pistachio ice cream while The Other Girl had their ice cream sandwich with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.
At 2pm each week the Community Table is where they create Stone Soup, local producers supply the ingredients and they also encourage visitors to bring along ingredients to include, or to help prep or cook. Once the soup is made they make it available for a donation with all funds raised going to the 24 Carrot Garden Project.
MoMa knows how to throw a party and keep the guests comfy; complimentary sunscreen, a free water station, a kids tent, live music, bean bags and a no rush feeling.
MoMa Markets is on every Sunday 11am to 4pm until 16 April 2017.
