Do you feel like being a little bit spoiled? High tea is a fabulous way to pamper yourself. It’s on trend right now with many venues offerings this elegant take on afternoon tea.
It was The Other Girl’s birthday recently so we decided to frock up and celebrate in style! We took The Only Child along, it’s been a while since we caught up and she does like the finer things in life!
Way before high tea enjoyed its current popularity, The Point Revolving Restaurant offered high tea on Friday afternoons.
With the increase in popularity The Point added more sitting times in 2017, now you can enjoy high tea Wednesday to Sunday afternoons.
It is the perfect venue to enjoy high tea. It’s newly re-furbished interior, magnificent 360° view and silver service make it a really special experience.
It’s all class at The Point Revolving Restaurant, we were warmly greeted by our waiter who showed us to our table. We were then offered a beautiful glass of Monmousseau Rose, a delightful French sparkling. After time to settle in and toast the birthday girl our waiter delivered high tea to our table; it was time to indulge!
We started with our savoury selection, the servings sizes were actually larger than we expected, not just a dainty mouthful, you won’t need lunch prior.
What we ate:
- turkey and cranberry finger sandwiches
- cream cheese and cucumber finger sandwiches
- Tasmanian cold smoked salmon and horseradish open sandwiches
- onion and gruyère cheese quiche.
Next we gleefully tackled the sweets, along with an impressive selection of delicate petit fours there was also the traditional scones served with Evandale jam and Meander Valley cream. The petit fours were amazing, dainty, delicate and delicious. The scones were more crunch than fluff.
What we ate:
- Meyer lemon tart
- raspberry cremeux financier
- coconut bavarois barrel
- apple bavarois
High tea also comes with unlimited tea and coffee poured from silver pots.
Everything is made in house, including birthday cakes that you can order as part of your experience.
Given we’d just eaten our amazing sweet platter more cake was not an option, instead we arranged for the Other Girl to be presented with a single serve of chocolate coated ice cream in a cloud of dry ice. Together with the staff we sang her Happy Birthday, it’s just one of the loved traditions of The Point Revolving Restaurant.
