The Other Girl was back in Moonah, her old stomping ground recently so the Two Girls decided to give Sarinya Thai Fusion a try.
Sarinya has been open since 2016 but it is tucked behind the main shopping strip so you can be forgiven for never having noticed it before.
The menu is huge, for each main meal you get to choose the type of meat, they also offer tofu and vegan duck. Sarinya use free range meats and offer fresh Tasmanian octopus when available, unfortunately they didn’t have any on our visit.
We finally decided on pan fried chicken dumplings $5, authentic pad Thai with combination meats $17.90, green curry with chicken $14.90 and steamed rice $2.
The Valern Hotel is just across the car park so after we ordered we zipped over to grab some BYO, with the absence of piccolos we decided on the Iron House small batch gin and tonic which went beautifully with the Thai flavours.
By the time we got back with our drinks our entrée was being served. The dumplings were amazing, thin, tender dumpling wrappers with a flavoursome filling, a wonderful start on our journey.
The service is quick, and we didn’t have long to wait for our mains which we shared. The stand out for us both was the authentic Pad Thai, beautiful soft noodles with a generous amount of meat and tofu, the zing of fresh lemon and crunch of the bean shoots. The green curry had some amazing flavours fresh herbs, kaffir lime and lemongrass with a nice amount of heat for us, we chose medium. The texture for us was a little weird, like it had been thickened with corn starch. We asked about this as we paid but they insisted that it was simply coconut cream reduced, the Two Girls are not convinced!
There were a few other diners in the restaurant while we were there and they had a steady stream of take-away orders being collected, so it is fair to say that the locals are in the know and supporting this great little restaurant.
Sarinya Thai Fusion is a great little restaurant serving up fresh flavoursome food with friendly and quick service.
You’ll find them at shop 1, 75 Main Road Moonah, access via the laneway from Main Road or the carpark between Albert and Hopkins Streets.
